Two high-profile members of the notorious Scattered Spider cybercrime group have entered guilty pleas on the first day of their trial in the United Kingdom, bringing a measure of accountability for a series of devastating attacks that targeted critical infrastructure and major corporations. Thalha Jubair, 20, and Owen Flowers, 18, admitted to orchestrating the August 2024 cyberattack that crippled Transport for London's public transport network, causing significant disruption to transportation services in the Greater London area. The swift guilty pleas effectively concluded what was anticipated to be a protracted six-week legal proceeding.
The duo's criminal activities extended far beyond the London transportation system. Flowers separately admitted to hacking into US healthcare providers including SSM Health Care Corporation and Sutter Health in September 2024
